Volunteer with us
Grow food. Care for animals. Be part of something grounding.
Service Description
We’re opening our farm gates to local volunteers who would love to spend time outdoors, tend to our allotment, work gently alongside animals, and be part of a small, supportive community. This is about connection, not pressure. There are no targets, no previous experience needed, and no expectation to give more than you comfortably can. What volunteering here looks like Volunteers help with: - Tending the allotment – planting, watering, weeding and harvesting - Growing fresh produce used in our farm experiences - Sharing the harvest – taking food home with you - Gentle animal care and time spent around alpacas and hens - Being part of a calm, welcoming rural space Some days are productive, some days are slow. Both are valued here. Green prescribing for mind & body Spending time outdoors, working with soil and animals, and being part of a community is proven to support both physical and mental wellbeing. Our volunteer spaces are especially suited to people who: - Want to improve wellbeing through gentle, purposeful activity - Feel isolated and would benefit from community connection - Love the idea of growing food but can’t commit to an allotment full-time - Are navigating stress, burnout, anxiety or low mood - Simply want to be outside, hands in the soil, head a little quieter This is green prescribing in its truest sense – nature, movement, purpose and belonging. The joys of an allotment… without the pressure You get all the good parts: - Fresh air and fresh food - Learning how to grow - Watching things flourish - Taking produce home Without: - The cost of renting a plot - The pressure of sole responsibility - The guilt if life gets busy - We grow together. We share responsibility. We support each other. Who this is for You don’t need to be “fit”, “strong”, or “experienced”. You just need to: - Be kind to animals and people - Enjoy being outdoors - Want to be part of something meaningful We welcome all ages and backgrounds. This is a judgement-free, low-pressure space.
